Russian-born photographer Yanina Shevchenko captured the subtle pleasures of everyday life in the harsh climate of Novy Urengoy, a Siberian city just south of the Arctic Circle. Known as the gas capital of Russia, the the town’s young population enjoys prosperity and feels positive about the future despite the challenges posed by both the economy and the climate.
